Chapter 2

All I remember is the sound of screeching tires and the sound of Geno's voice. I couldn't open my eyes and i couldn't move my leg. I was in so much pain I didn't know what to do or anything as I felt someone pick me up and then its all a blank. I just kept hearing Geno's voice but its like i couldn't wake up no matter what I did.

~3rd person POV~

Geno hurried and followed Kari out of the arena wanting to talk to her. As soon as he walked out he saw her step onto the road and before he could say a word he watched as the speeding and skidding pick up truck hit her. "KARI! NO I NEED HELP!" he yelled as people started to gather. He ran over to the fallen Kari and didn't move her but just cupped her face in his hands "Kari...answer me! Kari!" he asked as the medical staff came running out and so did his mother. The police held everyone back as the ambulance hurried and loaded Kari inside and took her to the hospital.

Geno and the Malkin's followed close behind and the rest of the time a few minutes later. When the doctor came out from the emergency surgery room he said the words no one wanted to hear "Kari...is in critical condition...she's in a coma....she might never wake up" He led the team back into the back room where Kari's body was. The only sign that she was truly even alive was the beeping of her heart monitor and her oxygen mask. Geno walked over and sat down in the chair sliding his hand inside of Kari's.

For the next month and a half this was a common place if Geno was out of town with a game then he had a web cam set up in the room that he would still watch and talk to Kari. Then the doctor told him that she would never wake up and he did give up hope. He stopped visiting and he stopped really playing and being Geno. It was 3 weeks without Kari until it was a very important playoff game in Mellon Arena. Geno was just sitting in the locker room silently sad as ever little did he know something amazing was happening right down the street

~Kari's POV~

3 weeks ago I finally opened my eyes and woke up from my coma. No one was there when I woke up but I knew my doctor didn't want Geno to know just yet mainly because thats what I told him. We worked for 3 weeks to get it to where i could wake on my own again slowly and weakly but could walk none the less. I got dressed into this outfit

with some help from the nurses. I walked slowly down to the garage and got into the one medical van that they took to the Penguin games. I hid in the back as they drove to the arena. I waited til the nurses told me it was fine and i snuck out and walked into the back of the arena. The penguins were all up on the ice and I snuck up into my box seat up at the top by Mr.Lemuiex. It was time for the game and the 1st period Geno just wasn't there he was somewhere else. Then the 2nd period was the same way they interviewed him and he tried 2 put on a smiley face but it didn't work.

Finally it was time the 3rd period rolled around and the Pens came out. "WE HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT!" the announcers yelled and everyone shut up. "LOOK AT THE JUMBO TRON!" They said and even the penguins looked up as the camera's scanned up to my box and i stood up fell alittle but grabbed onto the counter and stood up and waved weakly to everyone.

They showed Geno's face and he was in absolute shock it was like he saw a ghost. And while I was still on camera I made the symbol with my hands weakly of a heart that was our sign when we were kids. It was like the old Geno was back after that he exploded and led the Penguins to vicotry with a hat trick and a hat trick of assists too.

I slowly made my way down toward the locker room but i was stopped by Mr. and Mrs. Malkin who hugged me and then as soon as i got within seeing distance of the locker room it was like all the memories came back well....atleast until I turned the corner and saw Alexander Ovechkin standing there.....with a smile on his face
